Dr. Alyson Rockett, owner / vice president of AEC, received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with honors from North Carolina State University in 1992. Dr. Rockett has over 14 years of general practice and emergency / critical care medical experience. Dr. Rockett is also skilled in veterinary hospital management and personnel administration. “My previous work as a general practitioner has enhanced my understanding of the importance of communication with the patient's regular veterinarian. Her husband is a veterinary cardiologist and she has 2 young children, Olivia, who wants to be a black and white whale trainer and Alec, the brain surgeon! Her personal escape is her young thoroughbred horse who shows her that any goal is achievable and that enthusiasm for life is contagious!

Dr. Heather Robertson, owner / president of AEC, received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 1996. She then successfully completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan Veterinary Specialists in Southfield, Michigan in 1997. Dr. Robertson has 10 years of experience in general practice and emergency / critical care. She has also pursued extensive training in veterinary practice management. Her positive personality and energy parallels her practice style and lends confidence to our patients’ families. Heather is an avid triathalete and has been successful in several competitions.
She grew up in Maryland along the Chesapeake Bay. SHe is the proud mother of 3 cats and 2 dogs.
Dr. Matt Januszewski received his DVM degree from Colorado State University in 2001. After spending 11 years in Colorado, his family returned to their home state of Michigan with their children Morgan, Claudia, Owen and Ella. Dr. Januszewski has general veterinary and exotic animal experience as well as an extensive presence in the emergency and critical care arena. Dr. Januszewski has a special interest in internal medicine and thrives on multifaceted emergency presentations. Matt’s personal interests include spending time with his family, telemark skiing, rafting, backpacking, hiking and fly fishing.
Dr. Andrea Melzian graduated from Miami University with a bachelor's degree in Zoology in 1994 and graduated with her DVM from Michigan State University in 2000. She has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery since 2001 and is now pursuing a career in emergency and critical care medicine. She enjoys running with her chocolate Labrador Retriever, "Molson" and spending time with her husband. She also participates in a variety of activities - rollerblading, kickboxing, skiing, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Lauren Liba, received her doctorate from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, Dr. Liba's interest in emergency medicine began long before her veterinary school education. Her experience inspired her to pursue additional emergency medicine and surgery courses during her schooling at MSU. As a new graduate, she jumped right into the ER arena without looking back! Dr. Liba is also skilled in emergency avian and exotic care. When away from the ER, Dr. Liba enjoys spending time with her husband ,new son and their pets. Dr. Liba also participates in sports, reading and photography.
Dr. Colleen Beach, a Michigan native, attended Michigan State University for both her BS degree and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 1997. She has been engaged in a myriad of veterinary experiences including both equine and small animal general practice, an oncology internship and emergency and critical care medicine. Dr. Beach has a special interest in pain management, oncology and internal medicine cases and the management of trauma patients in the ER. Colleen loves spending time with her family, riding dressage horses, bicycling and hiking.
Dr. Brenda Ellens, received her received her doctorate from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and now has over 16 years experience in veterinary practice. She was born in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Her interests are her two children, Tae Kwon Do, swimming, performing surgery and emergency medicine. Her four legged family consists of 2 Alpacas, 2 cats and 2 St. Bernards, a Newfoundland and a Labrador Retriever.
